"A couple years ago after we purchased an acre lot on a lake, we reached out to Melvin and his staff at Southern Star to understand how they approached building custom homes. We wanted to incorporate some unique ideas with luxury features seen in multi-million dollar model homes as well as from inspiration from social media, but only in a relatively smaller house. Every idea we brought up was welcomed and often expanded upon or enhanced. We took a normal house up a notch in many areas such as by having a hidden door, a floor plan that was “bent” to enhance the view in back, a utility room with dog kennels among other things. Never once during the entire process did we ever receive a “can’t do” attitude. Southern Star cares about their clients and they were able to start much sooner than any other builder in comparison. We started with a blank white board and ended up with a house that literally brings tears to our eyes at times when we reflect on how well it turned out."
